TRON, a decentralized internet startup steadily garnering attention has recently revealed their plans to integrate the popular torrent client BitTorrent in a public announcement on Thursday, September 27, 2018.
The startup which describes itself as an ambitious project “dedicated to the establishment of a truly decentralized Internet and its infrastructure” has headquarters based in the city of Beijing and San Francisco.
When news filtered out that the company had bought BitTorrent in June, it was only more interesting when the founder and CEO Justin Sun claimed the ubiquitous torrent client would be key to TRON achieving its lofty aims of creating a new decentralized internet.
TRON is presently arching out plans to employ its native TRX token within the platform’s user base to create a hybrid content sharing ecosystem which would leverage digital currencies, giving the cryptocurrency world a strategic advantage.
The project, named “Project Atlas,” which has only been months since its official revelation was revealed earlier in August and was described by Sun as the project meant to employ both the peer-to-peer strength of the BitTorrent with the TRON’s blockchain network. The project has been confirmed to create a network of “backwards-compatible protocol extensions,” as part of the changes reinforcing the original aims of the project.
What to Expect From the Update
Sun also talks up the benefits as he confirms that the new product would facilitate faster downloads, more seeds, and backward compatibility, all with no mining carried out in any form. He said:
“We aim to eventually empower all content creators and their communities by eliminating the middleman and enabling content creators to distribute directly to users.”
The integration would subsequently allow users the opportunity to employ tokens as incentives, or loyalty points, and also as facilitate the means to obtain premiums that would ensure faster download speeds. Also, this sort of arrangement would, in turn, allow seeders to earn digital tokens as a reward.
TRON has scheduled a more detailed synopsis of the features of Project Atlas in a presentation set for today, September 28.
